The amended online-promotion licensing rule
Public Act 25-112, section 14, added the relevant language with an October 1, 2025 effective date. The amended provision appears in the 2026 supplement. A summary based only on older general-promotion wording omits a material licensing condition for the covered activities.
The chapter also deals with promotions unrelated to bona fide sales and specified simulated-gambling devices. These are separate textual requirements, so one reassuring feature of a promotion cannot be assumed to answer every part of the provision.

Consumer protection is part of the same record
Violations of subsection (a) are also treated as unfair or deceptive trade practices under Connecticut’s consumer-protection law. That connects the prohibited conduct with a consumer-protection consequence; it is broader than a simple instruction to print a no-purchase disclaimer.
A commercial platform accepting Connecticut registrations has supplied evidence of its own admission process, not proof of the authorization the statute requires. Our page explains that distinction and retains the official amended sources. It does not attach local signup recommendations to a national Gold Coin package.
Connecticut questions
Which date belongs to the online amendment?
Section 14 of Public Act 25-112 specifies October 1, 2025. The 2026 supplement carries the amended section. The supplement’s year should not be mistaken for a later commencement date for that language.
Is this merely a rule about dishonest marketing?
The section contains specific conduct restrictions, including the licensing condition for covered online-gaming promotions. Its unfair-trade-practices treatment adds a consumer-protection aspect rather than replacing those substantive restrictions.
